What is NASTAR?

NASTAR (NAtional STAndard Race) is the world's largest known recreational ski and snowboard race program. It allows ski or snowboard racers of all ages and abilities, through a handicap system, a way to compare themselves with one another and with the national champion, regardless of when and where they race.

The Lexington Ski and Sports Club (LSSC) races in the Ohio Valley Ski Conference (OVSC).  All club members are eligible to participate in the races and represent the LSSC. If you enjoy skiing, you most likely will enjoy racing.  Many club members race or participate in NASTAR events when on western trips. We have some elite racers in the LSSC and they are anxious to help you get your start in racing or advance your current racing skills. You do not have to participate in all of the scheduled races.  Get your racing groove on this year by participating in one or two races.  There are multiple age groups so you don’t have to worry about being left in the powder by a young whippersnapper.

How do I Register to Race for the LSSC?

To race under the LSSC flag, you must be a current LSSC member. If you are NOT a 2018/19 member, go to the membership page to pay your dues ($40 via PayPal) and then complete your online application.

To race, you must have a NASTAR ID. Follow the instructions below under Register for a NASTAR ID to obtain your ID as well as the instructions under Finalize the Process to Race. If you already have a NASTAR ID and want to race with the LSSC, 1) login to Nastar.com, 2) make sure your PERSONAL settings are as listed below in red, and 3) follow the instructions below under Finalize the Process to Race.

Register for a NASTAR ID

To obtain a NASTAR ID, follow the instructions below.

1. Go to www.nastar.com.
2. Click on REGISTER in the title bar.
3. Fill-in all of the fields through Birthdate. For Racer Discipline, pick the appropriate discipline. Most people will select either Alpine Skier or Snowboard.
4. Under the heading of Create or Join a Team, make the following selections:
   1. Family/Friends Team = Perfect North Slopes (not any of the other Perfect North sections)
   2. Club Team = Lexington Ski Club
   3. Resort Team = Ohio Valley Ski Council
5. In the Your Password section, create a password.
6. In the Special Offers section, check the boxes if you wish to receive the offers.
7. You must then click the I agree to the above release box.
8. Click on the last box if you are agreeing to the release for a minor participant.
9. Fill in the missing medal to show you are not a robot and then click the register button.

You will then receive a Thank You screen confirming you have successfully registered for NASTAR. The message includes your NASTAR Registration Number (NASTAR ID) and Password. It also includes confirmation you will receive a FREE one-year subscription to SKI Magazine.

Finalize the Process to Race

To race for the LSSC, you must contact Racing Chair, Dianna (Lady Di) Miller (see contact info below) and:

1. Confirm you wish to race for the LSSC, and
2. Provide your Name, Date of Birth, Male or Female, Mailing Address, Email Address, Cell Number and your Racing Number (also known as NASTAR ID and Registration Number).

Lady Di will add you to the roster and provide for you a LSSC BIB NUMBER. YOU MUST HAVE THIS LSSC NUMBER TO RACE AT OVSC RACES!
